Millennials in the workplace

Millennials are a big part of the employee and they lack loyalty to the companies with high turnover rates. This report is about the mindset of the millennial generation according to two surveys.

PWC collected more than 40 thousand people's responses about workplace culture, communication, pay structure, etc. Deloitte's survey is about the threats and opportunities in the complex world of work in 10 thousand millennials.

Millennials prefer interesting work and a flexible working schedule. They want more support from the company and more opportunities to improve their skills. They believe that businesses and leaders are more loyal to a company.

The organization and manager should consider that they manage Millennials by work-life balance, control working hours and working place, offer help and support and address social concerns.

Mt. Everest was an untouched area of plants and animals before the 1950s. Now it is a trash heap. A large number of climbers scale the mountain each year and they threw a lot of rubbish on the mountain. The environmentalists have organized campaigns to remove the trash. A new law requires each hiker to bring down 18 pounds of garbage, otherwise, it will be banned to climb the mountain. Mt. Everest is called “the world’s highest junkyard” because of the continuous increasing garbage.

week 12

In the following article on Nuclear Hazards the signalling words and phrases are missing. Replace them and check your answers.
There are three separate sources of hazard related to the use of nuclear reactions to supply us with energy.  Firstly , the radioactive material must travel from its place of manufacture to the power station. Although the power stations themselves are solidly built, the containers used for the transport of the material are not. For this reason , there are normally only two methods of transport available, either road or rail, and both of these involve close contact with the general public, whatever the routes are bound to pass near, or even through, heavily populated areas. Secondly, there is the problem of waste. All nuclear power stations produce wastes which in most cases will remain radioactive for thousands of years. It is impossible to de-activate these wastes, and  therefore  they must be stored in one of the ingenious but cumbersome ways that scientists have invented. While  they may be buried under the ground, dropped into disused mineshafts, or sunk in the sea. However these methods do not solve the problem; they merely store it, moreover  an earthquake could crack open the containers like nuts. Finally there is the problem of accidental exposure due to a leak or an explosion at the power station. As with the other two hazards, this is extremely unlikely and despite this does not provide a serious objection to the nuclear programme, whatever it can happen, as the inhabitants of Harrisburg will tell you. Separately, and during short periods, these three types of risk are no great cause for concern. Taken together,  despite the fact that, and especially over much longer periods, the probability of a disaster is extremely high.

People can go shopping for food and necessary supplies but must get back quickly as soon as possible. People must stay at home unless necessary, e.g. need for medicare or have to work or study. Essential retails will keep open and offer the service. The Medical Officer said the government’s measures have got the effect. PM advises for people over the 70s to stay indoors to protect from the virus. There is a moratorium on evictions for the small business which have financial difficulties.

F Write your personal reflection on the issue in the article
This article is about the new rules which the Prime Minister announced. The PM limits outdoor gathering people to two and the aged people should stay at home to protect them from the Coronavirus. In my opinion, there are some advantages to reduce the gathering and ask people to stay at home. Today, there are more than 4,250 Coronavirus cases in Australia and the virus spread very fast. Staying at home and reducing the gatherings can stop the spread and protect people safely. I strongly believe that the new rules are beneficial to protect the people from the Coronavirus.
